Response to Check the web for the Oldsmobile club tests

Super batch of tests, yes the Cyclone 390gt/c6 was 2nd fastest of the nine cars - but the fairlane 390gt/c6 was the 2nd SLOWEST - gotta assume it is a nearly identical car.

So, 0.8 sec and 8mph between these two cars in the same test series? This would indicate about 80 ftlb and 80hp diff between 2 identical 390gt engines. Something strange....

Maybe the Fairlane did what I once did at Detroit Dragway, leave the distributor bolt loose?
Then again the Cyclone was awfully fast at 99mph, maybe it was an early 428cj? LOL.
It does not say what gear or accessories the two cars had but 8mph seems like a lot. In any case, nice website and nice article.
