Sorry for the O/T post but, I had our 2004 Taurus Transmission serviced yesterday. It is now has a whine now, somewhat like a power streering pump low on fluid. It did not do this prior to the fluid change. I checked the fluid and is shows right about full. Any ideas? I am tempted to dump a half quart of Mercon in, as that is what it says on the stick... And thanks for any help.
I know we have a few late model techs on here that may have see on heard this before. Thanks
Chip

The whine you're hearing is normally caused by the fluid foaming and the front pump cavitating. Usually this is caused by a low fluid condition but can also be caused by a loose filter or clogged filter. Since I am not familiar enough with a Taurus tranny either the filter will be set in a rubber o ring or a gasket. If either the gasket or o ring is missing it will suck air and cause the noise you describe.
I would take it back and have them check it. I guarantee you they are going to say there is nothing wrong but I would persist.
