Arrived home last night after being gone on business trip (new job) and waiting for me was my brand
new SLR003 (pics to follow soon) that I bought 7 weeks ago! I don't know about you guys, but am I the only one that seems to be having problems with them lately? Payments arrive late or don't arrive, deliveries don't arrive, etc. I am using UPS in the future, or at least registered mail I suppose. Just an example, sent a payment to a fellow Forum-er one state away three weeks ago and still has not shown up on his doorstep. All I could do was ask the Post Office to look and because
my word is my bond (not being trite, but that concept seems to be losing something nowadays), I will pay again. Fortunately, he is one hell of a nice guy, as most here are and understands. Just something I wanted to address because we all order and send things all over and wanted to see if I am alone. Any other horror stories out there?
By the way, the SLR003 is the forerunner of the Monster and it is more awesome than the pics I saw to purchase it. Will try to post pics later today!!

but I did have a loss or damged & trashed item I sent by UPS last month. The Item was An antique piece of Pottery, UPS crushed the box corner and broke the contents & then denied to pay the insured or declared value that was purchased for it.
I then ended up winning my claim a month later, but grew a few hundred more grey hairs before their time!
USPS may be slow sometimes,
but usually is okay for the most part as long as mail is'nt sent parcel post or book rate, then it's as slow as the (Pony Express) during a snow storm.
~ I can see your thoughts clearly though & I would feel the same way. I think as long as watches or money or Money orders are sent by atleast 1st class mail and better yet (Priority with delivery confirmation & insurance)for most watches and things, and best by Registered as you say for items of higher value.
I must agree with you, "One's word is, and should be his Bond), and as you have said there just doesnt seem to be alot of thoughts for that today, out in the world we all live in.
Thankfully there are "our brothers" here on the SCWF & other forums that still believe in these truth's, and hold them to the high standard that you & I both value.
Very nice post & I'm sure the letter was mis-directed and will hopefully show up, and if not well then your check or Money Order can be stopped and then payment resent as you know.
Cheers-Jimmy

I'll have to keep the "better half" of 27 years now anyway!! Ha! Ha! Ha! If I had sent it 1st class it would of almost certainly taken a week + !!!! Guess I'd better keep her!! J.T.

Jim, I'm glad for all those involved that your situation was taken care of satisfactorily. It's too bad you had to fight for what should have been a cut-and-dried issue by the handlers. Both you and J.T. had good points and thanks for sharing. I suppose I will re-evaluate UPS and go with registered
mails in the future. Thanks again for your responses.

In fact, have been buying and selling using exclusively USPS, and have not
had any problems. I plan to stick with them especially after hearing about
Jimmy's problem with UPS. In fact, my latest purchase was from an e-bay seller
in Florida. He posted to SF Bay Area same day of purchase on Thursday, and it arrived today
via USPS Priority.
If you ask me, USPS Priority is the best deal around....

Count me out on this whine. I just checked, 52 items sent USPS in '08 (about right, 200 or so a year), including 18 overseas and no complaints, no delays, nothing awry. I'd have to go back 5 years when one package was lost in Canada, and another was in Greek customs for months. Both ended well. Then again, I deal in non-watch things so the level of complaining is very different.

Not a whine, but a feeler to see if my problems could

be local or symptomatic of a general trend. If the former, I need to post from Houston vice the 'burbs, if the latter, then I was going to change to a different carrier. Given the information that the USPS in general, with certain provisions, can be counted on, I have decided to use registered mail in lieu of UPS. Thanks again to all who gave feedback.
