For those who don't frequent the TWA800 group

here is an important summary that I just posted there.
[...]
In regard to your question, it would be best to explain
all this by telephone. And, you can follow the evolution
of my thinking over the last 9 months in the TWA800
archives. It is all documented there.
Here is a summarized version ----
I have analyzed the 1999 version of the
Islip primary returns. It has taken quite
a lot of time but it boils down to a very
simple explanation. And I have also taken
advantage of the work of others.
By a lot of cogitation I finally gained the
initial insight that the only reason for
the ridiculous treatment (ala 'Gary in Denver')
of the KABOT photo was to discredit it
as having any evidentiary value.
If the original object in the photo was at
that location at the same time as TWA 800
was exploding in the opposite direction
then there could be no significant
relationship between the two.
That was the implicit conclusion that the
disinformation associated with the KABOT
photo was meant to convey. This insight
also explained the contorted history of the
KABOT photo.
Having convinced myself that there was active
governmental disinformation complicating
the TWA 800 investigation, I began reexamining
other anomalies in that light.
I had always been puzzled by the inexplicable and
anomalous appearance of 4 pages of 'False Return'
discussion appended at the very end of Exhibit 13A.
Particularly when it only addressed that very specific
and narrow corridor.
So I began there.
I got great encouragement when I demonstrated
that one of the so called false returns was, in fact,
the P-3 track. That could be no accident. It is not
a mistake easy to make.
So I turned my attention to the longest track in the
examples given by the government. It was immediately
obvious that they had failed to include a land ward
data point that extend the track from 75 seconds to
90 seconds and beginning just at 2030 (roughly
sunset). Digging through the raw data I found additional,
later returns that the NTSB had avoided addressing by their
usual devilish selection of coordinates, boundaries,
and targets. This suspicious pattern of behavior (which
complicates all reasonable radar analysis) is one of
the reasons that I long ago started promoting radar analysis.
Here is my 'modified' version from the FILES SECTION
of TWA800.
I filled in that track with coordinates and radar sweep times
using dead reckoning. Then track appeared to have a slight
change of course amazingly close to the Initial Event (IE).
For that reason I started looking for a relationship to the IE.
Using an old MS WORKS 3.0 spreadsheet I extracted the
original data, added the interpolated data, and plotted the
following scatter plot.
Here are the data I started with (without the interpolation) ---
You can see the P-3, the 30+ knot target, and the breakup
of TWA 800 in addition to the track of the false return.
I tried various translations and rotations. I found that a 30 degree
rotation of the false return explained things to my satisfaction.
"This GIF shows the track of the 'false return' put forward by the NTSB
in the last 4 pages of Exhibit 13A. It has been rotated counter clockwise
by 30 degrees for this plot. It is superimposed upon the primary returns
that show the breakup of TWA 800. The BLACK CROSS highlights the
position of the object at 8:31:11.120 EDT."
"The orange track approximates the False Return rotated 30 degrees CCW.
Green dots = TWA 800 track. 'LARGE' prior to the IE, 'small' for the
projected track. The highlighted square and the BLACK CROSS give
positions (exactly ) at last sweep prior IE (8:31:11.120 EDT).
The green cross is just a guess for TWA 800 after IE. Straight blue line tracks
the path of the nose section. Color inside squares is blue for 1st primary,
green for 2nd, yellow for 3, and brown for 4. Tell me about any problems."
"In this and the previous GIF I have superimposed the secondary track of
TWA 800 with the primaries after the IE. I have tried to coordinate
everything with page 13 of 19 (I-8) of NTSB Exhibit 13E (see below).
This is the same as the previous file but much better for detail work unless
you have downloaded the free IrfanViewer. You can track the progress of
primaries from post Initial Event (IE) debris by sequencing through the
following GIFs. Time period for each GIF is in its title."
Here is a little commentary ---

And this graphic will help to understand the post recalled by the second URL ---

That tops off the answer to your question.
Finally, here is a shot from the ship animation just prior to IE
You can see what a powerful communication device this
animation would be if the 'false return' were rotated
30 degrees CCW and the 'racetrack' target were translated
10-15 miles to the right of its current track.
Thank you for your time. I thought that you might find this
interesting enough to study all of it
Herein is the key to solving TWA 800.
Please forward it
to Tom Stalcup and others. I appreciate all the hard work
so many have contributed.
