I can't really speak much about whether the Manitou art community is "snooty" or not to the point that they would reject your artwork, because I really don't know.
What I do know is this: Manitou Springs is a very down-to-earth kind of place. If your artwork is good and interesting, I'm sure you'll be fine. Being a local resident (which you soon will be) and a likable guy (which I'm sure you are) will give you some extra "legitimacy" so to speak, in the art community circles of Manitou.
And yeah, that tacky Native American art goes old after awhile.
