lol

meaning either my work computer is being stupid, or I actually did something wrong.

I'm working off a template and the stupid thing all of the sudden refused to save.

I haven't used Expression, but there's a few general things you might want to try:

Does Windows log messages from the system and running programs (not just system boot info) a la Mac OS X? If it does, you might have luck repeating what you've been doing again, then looking at the log for any error messages that might be useful. Sometimes a program doesn't pop up a visible error message, but logs some messages that'll give you useful results when you plug them into Google. Occasionally, one even tells you what's going on in somewhat human-readable language

A few possibilities to explore might be:

  1. Some extra bit of data got corrupted in the file, so it won't save properly. If you can, try copying the raw HTML/CSS/etc. code into a new text document in another program.
  2. File permissions are messed up for whatever reason. Check the file's Properties window in Windows Explorer.
  3. Expression or another program flagged the file as "in use" and never unflagged it. Microsoft Office likes to do this on both Windows and OS X periodically, so it's definitely a possibility On OS X this is fixed using a Unix command called chflags, so I'd guess there's probably a similar built-in program for the Windows command line console (lots got added to Windows NT in addition to the traditional MS-DOS commands). Microsoft's knowledge base would have something on it, if it's there.

yes. funny stuff.

reminds me of a youtube based thing about shoes, I'll have to find later.

SpaceCat-

some of that made sense. the only problem is that I'm working from the master of a template collection so copying the code to another I don't think would work because then the master would be completely screwed up and not make site wide changes with one click.

I have yet to go into work to day, so we'll see how it's behaving itself later on.
