To address the pneumatics first, the 3 way uses a VERY large set of o-rings, and once pressurized effectively locks up the trigger. Replace it with a quickswitch or a bomb.
That takes the gun from an embarrassment to something useful.
The operating pressure is easy to figure out. Just turn up the pressure till it works right. They take 800psi without worry. So you can just use a high pressure system. If you're so inclined.
