...did you all miss me?

OK, so here's what happened. I figure I'll be badgered mercilessly until an explanation is given, so I may as well give it voluntarily. I'll make it brief, and it was nothing that I'm THAT ashamed of anyway. Just a little ashamed of.

Here's what happened...

Lost my job.
Me and the wifey split.
Lived off hefty bank account and poker winnings without working a day for 3 years. I was the grasshopper in the fable of "The Ant and the Grasshopper" or
whatever the hell that story is called.
Slept/ate/woke-did whatever, whenever I wanted.
Money ran out after 3 years of unending drainage.
Moved in with family for a few months.
Lost internet access.
Now out on my own again.
Hello.
Good to be back.

I missed you guys and girl(s).

I missed playing internet poker more than I missed posting during another
failed season, but I also missed being able to vent or rant or laugh after a
loss with you all. I will say that so far, the offseason flew by without internet access. I can't believe it's time for the draft already.

I don't care what anyone says. Those three years of not having to work were the best 3 years of my life. LMFAO!

In short, I acted irresponsibly and paid the price. Losing the internet was horrible. So much of my entertainment comes from it. I like libraries and vid-gaming and poker, and that's what the internet is for me.

Sure, I lived about a 3 minute drive from a library, but I wasn't going to stoop to that level just to post on the internet again, or surf the web.

After about a week without it, I got used to it.

Without the net for so long, I have almost no clue about the draft picks this year outside of maybe the top 5. The net is the best source for draft research, but wtf, there's always next year.

Who won the pick-em? I know I was near the top at the time of my "departure." Oh well, the early leader never wins it all anyway.

So what are you guys thinking about the draft? Does the draft even matter? Is Johnson tearing the team apart? Did you all have an orgasm when DD Dorsey got some carries? (I admit, he did look good. Good for him). Which RB will Mikehole choose in the first 2 rounds this year? He piles up high drafted RBs that get injured like cordwood.

Sorry I couldn't give you all notice that I'd be leaving for awhile. Hope you didn't assume the worst. I might have to skim back through the threads and catch up.

Sorry falc, the party's over.
I'm sure you had some "interesting" things to say in my absence. You probably told everyone I finally realized I couldn't win an argument with you and ran away. Hahah.
I even missed you, eggy.

Good to be back, and I hope you are all still here and posting, and in well health.

chris

Put your index finger and your thumb together on the same hand. Rub it back and forth. That violin music you're hearing is for Chris-MBHater (loser extraordinaire). Let's go through the checklist, shall we?

Lost my job. Check.
Me and the wifey split. Check.
Lived off hefty bank account and poker winnings without working a day for 3 years. I was the grasshopper in the fable of "The Ant and the Grasshopper" or
whatever the hell that story is called. Check, check.
Slept/ate/woke-did whatever, whenever I wanted. Check.
Money ran out after 3 years of unending drainage. Now broke and back to work at McDonalds--flipping Burgers with my special friend Gretta, check.
Moved in with family for a few months. And living in Parent's basement in a bubble with his longtime boyfriend Dunn, check.
Lost internet access. Now is joining Falc in the library. Check.
Now out on my own again. Yeah, right--he likes the basement, check.
Hello.
Good to be back. (it's going to be a long year). Check.

Welcome back Chris,

Top 10 updates for you:

1. Falc is making bets with people again (which he will welch on)

2. Murf likes Hillary Clinton

3. R2 hasnt been heard from since he left for his mission

4. Storm still likes tequila

5. Everyone on the board with the exception of Murf wants help on the D-line this year.

6. Hobson made reference to MBS as the "bowels of bengaldom" or that's at least how we took it...

7. The Bengals screwed up the trade for Shaun Rogers

8. I don't know of anyone picking the Bungs to finish higher than third in the division this year and that is a stretch...

9. We have no third receiver.

10. We have no D-line (at least we have the Buckeyes - who look primed for another run under Tressel)

Chris is back!!!   Chris, I was thrilled when Dede Dorsey hit the field.  He looked great in the few carries he was given.  You didn't miss much.  Just another dead season and an offseason filled with Chad complaining, and Henry the ticking time bomb finally burst and is gone.

I'll post on draft day and football threads, but I took a break from this place during the offseason.  I didn't see a need to get involved in the tedious political/religious wars here.  I have a couple politcal boards I'm hanging out at in the offseason as well as an animal rescue board.  I miss football and can't wait for the season to start up again, even though the Bengals will probably stomp on my heart many times over.

See you come draft time.  Lindy's draft guide has the Bengals selecting Vernon Gholston and Ellis going #1 to Miami.  I guess we'll see.

Well KABTK disappeared.

I just figured you couldn't take the Bengals anymore and threw in the towel for the year. Can't say I would have blamed you. Or maybe you realized I was right about the Bengals big story being the (lack of) defense...not the success of Carson Palmer and the offense. While you were gone, we decided (er, maybe I decided) you were wrong about everything we argued about and I was right.

There - that ought to get things started. Just kidding of course. I never predicted Carson and the offense would be that bad. You of course never admitted how the lousy defense would inevitably mean too much pressure on the offense.

Well, we have the Super Bowl contending Bengals to take our minds off the lousy economy produced by conservative laissez-faire conservative republicans. Beer and circuses. Let the fireworks begin...

Swamp, its probably just a coincidence the last 4 recessions that hit our country occurred while a Republican was President, right? LOL

1929 - 1933 - Herbert Hoover

1973-1974 - Nixon

82-83 - Reagan

2001-Present - Lil Bush

More than anything though the worst Post WWII recessions have their roots in a quick and huge spike in the price of gas. In today's case though, the debt for the war in Iraq has exacerbated and therefore magnified the oil mess, along with the growing divide between the wealthy and everybody else...

Welcome Back Chris! You have been quite misssed. I'm glad you are o.k., wish I had 3 years to bum around, and wonder why you didn't go back to Vegas to increase your ability to avoid work in the real world.

Of course the most important piece of news that has not been reported back to you is that I won the pick-em, and I believe I was in the top 5 for almost the entire season. It was pretty tight at the end, I think I only one by 1-2 picks.

Hope things are well for you, that you got a cool fun job that you can enjoy and a house with a hot tub full of beautiful women.

No--that would be Gretta, the Sheople. He posts then takes an exit for 6 months--then comes back and snipes at various posters. Then takes another exit for 6 months. That's why he's the bi-annual poster. Nah, he's just bi. On second thought, he's simply gay. However, there's nothing mystical about Gretta.

Thanks for the welcome back.

Just so you all know, THIS was the first place I visited once I got back on the net. Heheh. I have been catching up on my poker lately, but I'll be around here plenty enough.

Where is SF2? I noticed a few hundred posts back that CinciWebster was posting again a few times, and had said that he met Realfan 212 and that rf was really a Browns fan. Hahahah. I remember in our earliest days here me and RF were always flaming each other. I figured he was a fan of another AFCN team. He's probably really "goose." lol.

Those pics are great of Dunn and murf. I knew they'd cuddle up like teddy bears if they ever met in real life.

Storm, I will e-mail you.

Bronco, nice list. That helps some. Thanks.

It's funny that some people still think Katie is a ghost of mine or something. Hilarious.

The Bengals? Optimistic about Marvin? Me?

The point I always made was that Marvin should be given a chance and that he was our best hope. He took the team to their only miserable playoff appearance in 17 or 18 years, so my patience was justified.

Now? I believe that Marvin knows what he needs to do, but that Mikehole is doing what he's always done. Minimum. Marvin is the fish trying to swim upstream against a current that's too strong for him. Mikehole is too much for any mere mortal to overcome, and always will be. I now dub him "SuperMikehole" in honor of his superhero-like dedication to losing.

Aside from whatever drag Mikey is placing on Marvin's progress, Marvin still makes too many questionable game-time decisions. This could still be something he outgrows, or he might always be a coach that makes idiotic decisions during the game for the rest of his career, whether by bad playcalling or bad clock management.

Watching last football season without posting on here for most of it was strange. On the one hand, bitching about the Bengals here is usually the most entertaining part of the football season, considering how weak the Bengals still are, but not posting almost made me not give a crap as much about them losing. It was like the old days, when I could turn the TV on and not expect anything, or care that much even when they looked like the keystone cops. The old head shaking laughter and resignation were back, and that's the attitude I have right now about this team at this stage.

BTW, I've seen people on here talking about Palmer getting sick of the organization and the mediocrity. He didn't have his best year last year, but it doesn't matter. The amount of responsibility placed on Palmer to win vs the rest of the team is ridiculous. Mikehole thinks Palmer can just put his superman cape on every week and save the day, so the rest of the team, including the defense, is an afterthought when it comes to shouldering the responsibility for producing wins. Nothing ever changes with Mikehole. He's believed in "Superquarterback" superheros ever since he drafted Klingler and Akili, and now that he finally found one that's worth a crap, he's gonna ride that pony all the way to 8-8 every year! Yeeehaw!

Around

April 21 2008, 11:34 AM

I am around just not posting during the off season and election nonsense.

Palmer is being Archie Manninged no question about it. He loses Chad and no Henry and he will look like Manning did in the later 70s, always playing catchup, too many picks, desperation turnovers etc.. The best quarterback that Never.

I can't even call him the Kenny Anderson of this era since Kenny played on some decent teams and had the Superbowl appearance.

I asked this question once on Go Bengals. Would you rather have Jen Rothleisberger's career up to this point or Carson's? Basically, would you rather be a decent QB on a great (ugghh) organization with the expectation of a deep playoff run every year and a Superbowl ring already in the bag or would you rather be a guy with exceptional skill on a crappy organization with only 1 playoff game in 5 years and little hope of a deep run this year?

Keep in mind Terry Bradshaw is in the Hall of Fame with average numbers but 4 Superbowl rings while Kenny Anderson is a forgotten man in the rest of the football world with very good to great stats. Carson has accomplished nothing other than build up his personal stats. Nobody cares how many yards you passed for if you don't win. Even Marino had already played in 6 playoff games (3-3) and one Superbowl in his first 5 years in the league. Palmer has one completed pass in the playoffs.

I even began to pick up this year that Palmer's name was not being mentioned nearly as ofter as before (in the media) while Big Jen was always being discussed.

Not asking if you want to be a toothless douche like Ben but rather whose career would you want?

I would have to say Big Jen's without a doubt.

BTW, Carson is not young anymore.

We will see how the draft goes but I don't like the looks of it and our defensive pickup in FA was nothing more than the guy who got the table scraps left by the 2 all pros on that team. He won't do that here.

SF2 is back for more punishment

SF2's post reminded me of something--The Nine Inch Nails song "March of the Pigs". Take a gander at the lyrics and tell me that this isn't a song about the Sheople/state of the franchise:

"Step right up march push
Crawl right up on your knees
Please greed feed (no time to hesitate)
I want a little bit I want a piece of it I think hes losing it
I want to watch it come down
Dont like the look of it dont like the taste of it dont like the smell of it
I want to watch it come down
All the pigs are all lined up
I give you all that you want
Take the skin and peel it back
Now doesnt that make you feel better?
Shove it up inside surprise! lies
Stains like the blood on your teeth
Bite chew suck away the tender parts
I want to break it up I want to smash it up I want to f**k it up
I want to watch it come down
Maybe afraid of it lets discredit it lets pick away at it
I want to watch it come down
Now doesnt that make you feel better?
The pigs have won tonight
Now they can all sleep soundly
And everything is all right"

BTW SF2--I thought you retired?!?!?!??!? Are you playing for the Wizards this time around, Mike (Jordan) or are you making underwear ads with Kevin Bacon/Cuba Gooding? LMMFAO.

Glad to see you're back Chris! I don't frequent the board very often and didn't even realize you came back. I figured the post was someone using your name, almost didn't even read the thread. Glad I did.

Dave

I'm not gone on my mission. This place just got useless without Chris.

I dropped by today to see what idiocy was being discussed, and voila! Chris is back.

I may bless you guys with my presence a bit more often and actually have something to which to respond.

Now that your "safe person" has returned, its safe to come back to mbs.com! You'll be glad to hear that the number of pics posted of fully-clothed, attractive females has gone down dramatically.

Belko, congrats on the pick-em win. You're da man. I'll be back to claim what was rightfully going to be mine this year.

Dave and R2, glad to see you guys are still around too! Drop in often.

SF2 is still here...cool. SF2, am I to understand that falc thinks he chased you off or something? What a fascinating tale that must be...

It seems like most everyone is here and a few new people have come in, or is it just the old troublemakers using more new names? Whatever happened to "Truefan9" or whatever the hell DWBTC's new name was? I saw that he was back under another name a few threads ago. Did he go over the line again?

Has anyone seen "Sheopleherder" lately? He used to drop by for the draft. I think he gave up after Palmer's knee snapped in the playoff game.

One last time, thanks to all who welcomed me back. Now let us never speak of this thread again...
