Hi Guys,

What is your preference with the Iwata feeding system: Gravity-feed or side feed? I am going to replace the old HP-SB (side feed) with an HP-BH and would appreciate some feedback before buying. Also is the micro air control really making a difference?

I prefer side feed, personally. I bought a spare cup so I can swap out colors if I need to, but otherwise, my Iwata is a champ.

Hi Dany,

I plumped for the HP-CH, as it seemed logical that you can always put less in a larger cup, rather than having to stop and refill the smaller one a number of times. I do use the cap for the cup that came with my airbrush as it stops one tilting a full cup too far.

I have used many brushes over the past years, Humbrol, Badger, Paasch, Aztek, but will never change from Iwata unless something magical is developed. The gravity feed system is so simple to clean, saving time, particularly for quick colour changes.
The balance is great as is striping it further to clean the needle, which is stainless steel, making it more difficult to damage. I particularly like the way that I am able to adjust both the Trigger travel and also the spray pressure by using the MAC valve. This duo system offers so much flexibility as it allows really great control, for spraying smaller details or things like German cammouflage on vehicles.

One thing that I would recommend is that you invest in a tube of Medea airbrush lube as it keeps everything moving easily as well as keeping the trigger valve smooth.

I guess you can see that I am hooked on Iwata, but I would suggest that you consider the HP-Ch with the larger capacity cup.
