I want to depict the surf on a beach. How do I best do this?

I have a small jug of Liquitex Gelex Extender Gel Medium and understand that it can be used; but how can I achieve a clearer appearance for the water? I don't want the water to be crystal clear. Rather, I'd like to introduce some color to it. I have successfully mixed some acrylic paint to it and even sculpted some small ripples for texture. My aim is to depict the encroaching surf on a Normandy beach with figures in the surf, under fire. I appreciate any help in this matter. Many thanks, Dave

Maybe some Future??

If I'm reading you right you want to make the already formed Liquitex look a bit clearer and wet looking. I'd
try brushing on a couple coats of Future acylic floor polish. Should produce a clearer look and keep the water
looking wet. Should also be useful in showing wet sand where the water has washed back into the surf.

Model on,

Clair

How deep??

June 22 2008, 7:52 PM

If you need it to be deeper, start with a "clear" plastic sheet. You can always cut holes in it for legs, ships, ect. Put some clear mix and future around the hole to similate foam and it will look normal. You can always spray the under sides of the plastic blue/brown/green/ or whatever to match what you want.

Dave, Dave, David....

I use a proprietary mixture of Jello, chocolate syrup and Jack Daniels. When you get the materials, post a message and I'll come over with some ice.

Glad I could help.
