About The Rat Fan Club
The Rat Fan Club was founded in 1992 by Debbie Ducommun, and focuses on rats as companion animals. The club currently has about 570 members all over the world! Our goal is to share our love of rats, promote them as companion animals, and spread information about their proper care. They are rapidly gaining popularity as pets, thanks to the RFC and similar organizations.

Debbie, who is also known as "The Rat Lady," has appeared on shows such as The Tonight Show and the Howie Mandell Show with her rats, promoting them as pets. She also writes articles for web sites and magazines, and has two books under her belt, Rats! A Fun and Care Book, and Rat Health Care. The former book has sold 10,000 copies, and is about to go in for its second printing. The latter book is self-published, and is updated every so often. It is currently in its sixth edition.

So where do I come into the picture? I have been a member of the club since 1998, when I discovered the Rat-Alog in one of those catalogs of catalogs. From my own experience, I realized that I had made so many friends via Internet discussion forums, yet I knew almost no one from the club, except those I had met by chance in other forums. I had been running my forum here at Network54 for about six months when I decided to offer it to the club as a hangout. We share stories about our rats, help each other with health and behavioral issues, and just plain go rat-crazy! There's still a lot of negative vibes regarding rats, so it's nice to have a place where people understand you.
